Welcome to the third of my monthly news blogs about work in the WriteCloud studio. I actually can’t believe it’s nearly April already, a quarter of the year down and the warmer weather on its way.
Here’s what’s been happening in March
Well, this month is all about new services as I have launched two new areas of my business to complement the virtual services: On-Site Assistance and Toggl Consultancy.
This has been introduced as a natural progression from the virtual admin and as a response to recognising that there are many people who work independently – consultants, business coaches or small businesses – who don’t have the people power to dedicate time to one-off events. With my background in customer service and hospitality, paired with my strong admin skills, I am really looking forward helping at events, workshops, development days or exhibitions, to be that extra pair of hands when organising and preparing for the day. You can find out more here.
For those of you who haven’t come across Toggl, it’s a time-tracking software that I use to accurately invoice my hourly rate clients. I am a huge fan of Toggl. It’s helped me to focus, be more productive, estimate accurately and identify any black holes in my day where time just disappears. In fact, I have become such a Toggl geek that I even use it to time track other tasks such as volunteer work or work that I do on my own business (I’m timing how long it takes to write and publish this blog!) and I am now a Certified Toggl Master. Toggl Consultancy is a program initiated by Toggl to put certified Toggl Masters in touch with clients in need of support, to help them make the most of using Toggl time tracking for their business’ productivity. You can find out more about the program or contact me if you’d like any Toggl help.
This month has also been heavily focused on event preparations for one of my clients as they geared up for their annual conference. I was available on the day, on site, to provide support at the event signing delegates in, dealing with queries, last minute copying and technical support for presentations. The sun was shining on a beautiful spring day in Finchley, the event was held in Stephens House & Gardens. The stunning Victorian edifice, former home of Henry ‘Inky’ Stephens is available to hire as an event venue but also houses a museum dedicated to Stephens Inks and the history of the house.
Given the new association with Toggl, it has to be this month’s top tech. I personally have been using Toggl for about a year and it has changed that way I think about my working day. I was truly amazed at where my time can go and it allowed me to focus only on what was beneficial to my business and not a waste of my time. As a service business, time is one of my greatest commodities, so I have to use it wisely.
